SO... it's been a year
(and a bit) since THE RE STORE has been THE RE STORE and we thought we would keep you in the loop about what goes on and what we do!
THE RE STORE is a Social Enterprise Art Gallery. It is a branch of the charity West End Impact. The idea to start THE RE STORE has been in the making for a few years now and we finally found the perfect place to set up shop! That perfect place is Yorkshire Street! Morecambe's High Street back in the day. Our ambition was/is to regenerate people's lives through creativity so we thought hey... why not regenerate an old beloved run down street too?
As a team we have learnt so much in this past year and we have grown so much. So many different people are working with us at THE RE STORE.
I'm not going to bore you with the statistics but here's a break down of our team.
Our Founding Manager Tracy Kohl, who does all things... Manager-y!
Our Artist in residence Emma Gregson who does all things Arty and,
Our Creative director Amy Joanne Kohl who does all things Design and Marketing and is currently writing this blog post (hello).
THE RE STORE currently has several placements from the job centre. We help people develop their skills in retail, customer service and expand their knowledge in the art world!
We also have a Textiles Student Sarah Bell, who is on a year's placement with us as part of her university degree.
We also have several artists using THE RE STORE as a platform to sell their artwork.
We started this blog to build a community, to show you the people behind the art and how you can get involved!
Don't wait till the next blog post, get yourself down to THE RE STORE and see for yourself!
